We have had some recent changes this winter with a few of our long-time staff retiring (we miss you already Pete and Joe!) and our perennial manager, Rebecca, taking a great opportunity to move to Vermont (we will miss you too!). As a result, we have some exciting job opportunities to be with us year-round. If you are interested in any position (or know someone who might be) please respond to this email, give us a call or stop in!

Perennials Manager

We are hiring a manager for the Perennials Department beginning immediately, full-time, year-round. This department is fun, creative and very independent. It requires knowledge of perennials, their care and a good sense of the latest trends in sales (i.e. people want more native and rabbit resistant plants). We grow 25,000 of our own perennials so our season has already begun. Landscape and nursery background is very helpful as you will be making beautiful, colorful, displays to catch our customer’s attention. Ability to lift 40 lbs., work in all weather conditions and be very organized, a must. Basic computer skills (email, Microsoft Excel and Word) are required as well as a willingness to learn our point of sale software. It’s a challenging but very rewarding job. Pay will be commensurate with experience but would start at $20/hr.

My husband and I have decided, ironically, to move to even colder climes, where we can live on a little farm in the big woods of Vermont, Laura Ingalls Wilder style. Needless to say, we have some shoes to fill here this year and we would love it if you would help us spread the word. There’s no mistaking that Pete, Joe, myself and everyone else here work very hard, but I will also tell you that this has been one of the most rewarding, independent and creative jobs I have ever had. I will miss it terribly. So drop in to see if you might feel the same way, or send your friends over. We do a lot of laughing here. It’s worth it.

Sincerely,
Rebecca Smith, Perennials Manager
